Mituna Captor Cosplay by ProblemChild55 Mituna Captor Cosplay by ProblemChild55
I know this is alittle late, but...yet another shot of my Mituna cosplay from Tigercon!

I didn't take this picture, I found it on tumblr, so if you're out there, thank you!

feedback is really appreciated since this is one of the first cosplays i've ever made.

Believe it or not, I didn't sew this (i RECOMMEND sewing, but my unitard came later than planned and my sewing machine was broken, so 2 days before Otakon I had to come up with another course of action)

okay the suit was the easiest. I got a unitard/zentai off the internet. The yellow is just a normal t-shirt cut diagonally and hemmed with seam tape. (always hem fabric you cut so it wont fall apart). the Gemini symbol is painted, and the big black stripe is duct tape ahahaha. i attached velcro to the suit and shirt, so that when i put it on, it would stick and not slide around and be more form fitting (it was coming undone abit in this picture...we were doing some shenanigans on the stairs)

The boots are boot covers from an old halloween costume I just spray painted, the gloves are just cheap work gloves, spray painted as well

The HELMET is where mine differs most from making than other Mitunas I've talked to

I started with a baseball helmet, you can find one of these in most thrift stores. I cut the visor part off.

Most people use foam or model magic for the stripe and the ear piece things. I tried this at first and it was...a nightmare. Model magic takes forever to dry, and didn't sand well at all. Foam fell apart when i tried to spray paint, and you're left with the weird looking texture of the foam.

What I did, is I turned the earpeices out of a small lathe, and cut the top piece out of some scrap wood with a jigsaw. This all will still require some heavy sanding.

Then, scuff the helmet all over, and apply a coat of primer to the helmet. Use hot glue to attach the peices, and body putty from the auto section of walmart (it's pretty cheap for a big tube) to smooth along the cracks of the pieces to make it look more seamless, and bond better. Once it dries you'll have to sand again

then spraypaint it for about 2-4 coats **make sure the spray paint bonds to plastic!!!**

the visor is just those clear binder dividers bent to shape and hot glued to the inner part of the helmet!

I really hope this helps! (sorry for the long spiel)
if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note
